Happy First of July!
Later this weekend we'll celebrate our nation's freedom.
But today I'm celebrating my own personal freedom: from the tyranny of the beige cubicle. When I arrived to said cubicle yesterday morning, I found a waiting voice mail from the Firm's CEO, wishing us all a pleasant 4-day weekend.
"4-day weekend!?" I thought. "This is news to me!"
(It shouldn't have been. The announcement that today would be an extra day off was made back in May, but I somehow missed it.)
What to do with this sudden freedom? Normally I'd head to the beach, but I was just there. So I puttered around a bit this morning - doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen, answering emails - wondering what to do with my free self.
Until I just decided - you know what? Screw it.1 Like Frankie & Annette, I'm going back to the beach.
Have a happy holiday weekend, y'all. Make George Washington proud with your freedomizing. I'll be doing my part down by the ocean.
1 Pardon my french.

Woohoo! Glad to hear you're celebrating in a big way (and with an absence of work)!
Oo la la! A comment from Paris, France! This blog just got a whole lot fancier. (PS - I had a Dr Pepper Slurpee in your/Blake's honor the other day.) (PPS - Viva la France!)
Let's definitely get together. Do you still have my email address?
